Fire kills thousands of hogs near Northfield
The fire broke out in a farrowing barn just after 2 a.m. at Holden Farms just outside of Northfield. Rice County Sheriff Richard Cook said between 4,500 and 5,000 sows and piglets were killed. Some pigs survive.
